The credo of SmartHome Insurance Cloud is to be compatible with as many sensors as possible.

Many home automation systems and sensor hubs have their own API and/or other convenient ways of integration. However, not all of them are set up for this. The SmartHome Insurance Cloud can implement integration solutions to almost any system as it has its own RESTful API gate for interacting with other systems. For those who do not have API capabilities, The SmartHome Insurance Cloud uses its own email-gateway. Owners of various detectors can set up their sensors to report to the special email address that was created and maintained by the SmartHome Insurance Network. SmartHome Insurance Network invites the sensor and Smart Home Hub manufacturers to use the SmartHome Insurance Cloud API

There are several levels of a connected-home product integration with S.H.I.C.:
Level-1. The user registers the product within SHIC and sets up the device to send the data to SHIC email-gateway or to SHIC sms-gateway.
Level-2. The user registers the product within SHIC and allows SHIC to access to it's data via the product's proprietary RESTful API.
Level-3. The user registers the product within SHIC and sets up the device to connect to SHIC RESTful API.
Level-4. The user registers the product within SHIC and sets up the device to SHIC via MQTT. (The SHIC MQTT interface is currently under development)

Developers can get the API documentation on the SmartHome Insurance API page.
